ktech Hosts the 11th Kuwait Collegiate Programming Contest (KCPC 2023)
kuwait technical college (ktech) proudly hosted the 11th Kuwait Collegiate Programming Contest (KCPC 2023) from October 5 to 7, 2023. The competition served as a dynamic platform for university and college students to showcase their programming skills, develop innovative tech solutions, and enhance their creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
In his opening remarks, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mr. Mishari Ayman Boodai emphasized that the programming competition promotes interactive and effective learning, as students are required to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world coding challenges. He noted that such contests help build student confidence in software development and encourage collaboration and teamwork.
Mr. Boodai also highlighted the broader impact of events like KCPC, stating they expand students’ knowledge and exposure, introduce them to new tools and technologies in computer science, and encourage healthy competition while building lasting friendships and professional connections.
Dr. Yousef Al-Radhwani, Head of the Information Systems and Technology Department at ktech, added that these competitions offer a practical application of academic coursework, allowing students to demonstrate their ability to use various programming languages and adapt to fast-evolving technological advancements grounded in strong programming fundamentals.
High Participation and Strong Presence
The contest witnessed significant participation from private universities and Kuwait University, with over 130 studentstaking part and more than 150 attendees at the opening ceremony. Notably in attendance was Dr. Mohamed Said, Acting Director of the Arab Open University in Kuwait and Head of the Supervisory Committee for the competition.
The official sponsor of the event was the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS).
Competition Results
- 🥇 1st Place: Kuwait University
- 🥈 2nd Place: Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST)
- 🥉 3rd Place: Kuwait University (second team)
ktech ranked 14th out of 44 participating teams. The college’s team, consisting of Hamad Al-Husseini, Sayed Ali Hashem, and Saud Al-Hattab, under the mentorship of Ms. Rasha Shalabi, Ms. Ahlam Mousa, and Mr. Anas Naja, was invited to compete in the upcoming regional contest in Sharm El Sheikh next month. The invitation recognizes both their strong performance and ktech’s successful hosting of the national event.
